SEABAT’s main objective is to develop a fully electric hybrid maritime concept, based on the combination of high-energy modular batteries and high-power batteries, as well as new converter concepts and production technology solutions derived from the automotive sector.

This project has been funded by the European Union Research and Innovation program HORIZON 2020 under grant agreement No. 7107726.

THE CHALLENGE

Substantially reduce the cost of large battery systems related to shipping.

THE SOLUTION

Offer a total acquisition cost between 35% and 50% lower than that of existing marine battery systems, reduce the CAPEX investment cost between 15% and 30%, reduce integration costs by 50% and increase the recovery of the cost of the investment 5% after its useful life in the ship.

THE RESULTS

Obtain an optimal all-electric hybrid modular solutionthat minimizes the battery’s environmental footprint and reduces battery oversizing.
